You’re probably here because you’re stuck in lockdown, bored out of your mind and you’ve decided to take your social media channels to the next level. Well you came to the right place! Sit back, relax and dive in to some top social media tips to up your social media game during lockdown.
Target Your Audience
Do you know who your target audience is? If not, it’s time to do some research. What are you selling? Who is your ideal client/follower? Is there someone you look up to on social media? What are they doing to engage with followers and who do they follow?
These are all questions to ask yourself when identifying who you want to follow and who your ideal client is. Once you know this, it’s time to interact.
Most people don’t understand that spending as little as 15 minutes on Instagram interacting with fellow bloggers/businesses can up your profile views and engagement. Make sure you’re spending at least 5 minutes commenting and liking your follower’s posts and a further 10, if not more, minutes on finding new people to follow and interact with.
Using Graphics To Your Advantage
Make sure you’re upping your graphics/photo game, especially if you’re predominately on Instagram. I use Canva to create all my Instagram content and I highly recommend it. However, if you’re more tech savvy, you could use Photoshop, especially if you’re a photographer or illustrator. These are some of the graphics I’ve been creating using Canva for clients.
Collaborating with bloggers and influencers is a great way of gaining followers. If you write a blog post for a friend’s website for instance, you should get more traffic coming in to your website and social media channels. Just remember to always include your social handles when being asked to guest post so you can be linked back to.
Having connections in the blogging world is a lifesaver at times. My Twitter community have my back and are always helping promote me and my services. I’d be lost without those connections!
Use The Shit Out Of Hashtags
Hashtags hashtags hashtags. And repeat. Hashtags are so important to reach more people on Instagram and Twitter. Although on Facebook it’s been proven that adding hashtags to posts makes you less visible.
Make sure you’re always using 10-30 hashtags on posts (Instagram’s hashtag limit per post is 30) and have a varied selection of hashtags with 50k posts attributed with it and some with a couple million. This way you’ll reach lots of different audiences without getting lost in the stampede.

Ask The Audience
Another way of upping your social media game during lockdown is to ask your audience what they want to see from you. Create polls on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram asking a bunch of varied questions to see what your audience like and what they’d enjoy seeing more of.
